Childhood Attachments…

Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

If you’ve been a blogger (or reader) on WordPress for a while, you probably know about the prompts that are on the home screen. This is the first one that caught my attention (although the one asking my opinions on meat was kind of interesting) and that I’ve posted about. So. Let’s get to it!

I think the things I was most attached to as a child were my blue knit blanket and my teddy bear named Rosalie.

Before I was born, my mom knitted me a baby blue blanket. It’s about the size of a lap quilt, and it is fluffy, warm, and soft. I slept with it for a long time. I’ve had it for all these years (wow that makes me sound really old!) and even though it’s getting ragged and worn, it’s still great for snuggling up with a book on cold days. One of the corners unraveled a few years ago, but my mom fixed it, and it’s still my favorite blanket.

As for the teddy bear, I haven’t had it quite as long. My brother got married when I was 7, and the wedding was in Tennessee. My family stayed at a house there, and there was a chair filled with teddy bears of all colors, shapes, and levels of adorable fluffiness. A piece of paper said you could take a bear if you wanted, which of course I did. However, none of the bears on the chair quite struck my fancy, but there was a bear on one of the beds that I loved. I snuck a random bear off the chair and swapped it out for the lovely fluffy one. I promptly named her Rosalie, and she’s been around ever since. Despite the dog using her as a chew toy, she is still mostly intact and sits on the chair in my room.

That’s it for today, I’ll be back one of these days with a post about…something. I’ll work on figuring that out haha. In the meantime, stay safe, stay joyful and have a wonderful day!

  1. It’s really small, since I was little when she made it. But it’s perfect head size😉
Oh nooo…..😂 Hahah, I guess it was too late to turn around. And she had to applaud your genius. You probably felt so proud when you told her too.

  2. That’s cool, it sounds pretty!
Haha, I have a bunch of stuffies too. They seem to come out of nowhere lol. One day you have 2 and the next day there’s like 12.
ikr? My mom was slightly horrified when I told her (we were on our way home)…

  3. My sister has a blanket that she still sleeps with, and I have a sunflower patterned pillow that my Grandma made me a long time ago, that I sleep with every night.
I was never really that attached to dolls, but I have 3 or 4 (or 10) stuffies that I alternate sleeping with😂
I love how you casually stole that doll🤣👍 Awesome. Only a little devious mind of a child could come up with that.
